Al Nabulsi Textile Factory in Nablus – Where Our Kufiyas Are Made

Traditionelle Kufiya Produktion in der Al Nabulsi Textile Factory in Nablus

The Kufiya is one of the most recognizable symbols of Palestinian culture. But behind every scarf lies more than just a pattern. It represents craftsmanship, history and the people who continue this tradition today.

Our Kufiyas are produced in collaboration with the Al Nabulsi Textile Factory in Nablus, Palestine, one of the last traditional manufacturers still producing authentic Palestinian Kufiyas.

A Textile Tradition in Nablus

The Al Nabulsi Textile Factory was founded in the 1950s by the Al Nabulsi family and is considered the oldest local kufiya factory. Since then, it has been one of the leading manufacturers of traditional Palestinian kufiyas.

For decades the factory produced traditional black and white Kufiyas that became known worldwide as a symbol of Palestinian identity.

But the history of the factory reflects the difficult history of the region.

A Factory Forced to Close

In 1985 the factory had to stop production.

Political restrictions, economic pressure and the difficult realities under occupation made it impossible to continue operating.

With the closure, not only a business was lost, but also an important part of Palestinian craftsmanship.

Reopening the Factory

After many years, efforts were made to revive this tradition.

With support from the local community and international partners, the Al Nabulsi Textile Factory reopened in 2023.

Today experienced weavers are once again working there, many of whom learned the craft through generations of family tradition.

The production now supports around 30 families.

How Our Kufiyas Are Made

Inside the workshop in Nablus, Kufiyas are produced on traditional weaving machines.

Each piece is created step by step.

Yarn preparation
Machine setup
Weaving the pattern
Quality inspection

This process requires experience, precision and patience.

More Than a Product

Kufiyas from Nablus are not mass produced goods.

They represent

• cultural identity
• craftsmanship
• economic independence

Each scarf carries a piece of history.
