Our story
Hurriya stands for authentic handcrafted products from Palestine and for the people behind them.
Hurriya was founded at the end of 2024 by two young Palestinians in Germany, with family roots and close connections to Palestine. The idea arose from the desire to make craftsmanship visible, to trade fairly, and to tell the stories behind the products - beyond mass production and anonymous trade.
Hurriya started on Etsy. Step by step, it grew into a brand, a community, and the desire to support artisans in Palestine. We don't just want to sell products, but to create closeness, show backgrounds, and give a voice to the people behind the craft. You can read why Hurriya is a special project under "Why Hurriya?".
Our handcrafted pieces come from various cities and refugee camps in Palestine. They are made in small traditional workshops in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nablus, Hebron, and Dheisheh Camp. We work directly with local producers, without intermediaries.
The finished products are transported to Germany and shipped worldwide from there via a fulfillment center. This way, we combine local production with reliable shipping.
In Nablus, our kufiyas are produced in a historic textile factory that was brought back into operation after years of standstill. Today, production provides a stable income for around 30 families.
In Dheisheh Camp near Bethlehem, we work with women who create traditional Tatreez embroidery. Through fair payment, regular orders, and long-term cooperation, real perspective is created.
In Hebron, our hand-painted ceramics are created. Each piece is unique and part of a centuries-old craft tradition.
Our olive wood works are sourced from sustainably managed olive groves and hand-carved in a small workshop near Jerusalem and in Bethlehem - with patience, precision, and respect for material and history.
